Baptism and Thanksgiving services offer a great opportunity to celebrate and pray with family, friends and the wider church family for God’s blessing, support and protection as your children grow.

Baptism is a sign of the beginning of a journey with God which continues for the rest of our lives. For all involved, particularly the candidates, parents and godparents, it is a joyful moment when we rejoice in what God has done in Christ, and respond in repentance and faith.

We offer Baptism services to all who feel able to, in good conscience and with integrity, make the promises contained in it. (In the case of infants, these promises are made on their behalf by their parents or guardians and godparents).

We also offer the option of having a service of thanksgiving and dedication for infants instead. This involves many of the same prayers, but is often chosen either where parents feel unsure about the promises made in baptism, or they would prefer to leave the option to be baptised with the child until later in life.

Except in the case of emergency, our baptism and thanksgiving services take place in the context of our 10.45am service on Sunday when you can be welcomed into the church family.

We would like to get to know you and help you prepare for the service, so we hold a preparation evening a couple of weeks beforehand when you can meet other parents and chat together over a meal. The person who will be leading the service will also be there to talk through what is involved and answer any questions you may have.

If you would like to book a date for either a baptism or thanksgiving service, please come to the church office on Tuesdays from 6.30-7pm or contact the church office on office@easm.co.uk 01509 261773. If you would like to have a chat with someone prior to booking, that can also be arranged through the office.
